About ProjectSAR

ProjectSAR is building a nationwide data network for search and rescue. Drone pilots, fire departments, SAR teams, animal response organizations, researchers, and volunteers can contribute thermal and visible imagery that helps train specialized detection models.

Our mission is to turn field experience into shared capability. Every carefully sourced and labeled flight can improve how future teams look for lost people, pets, wildfire hotspots, and disaster survivors.

ProjectSAR supports responders rather than replacing them. We are designing the platform around responsible data handling, human review, agency permissions, and practical tools shaped by operational needs.
